The Opportunity

This position involves working on programs and projects for clients, sponsors, and stakeholders as part of the Catchment Management Team. You will provide GIS and expert advice to support the design and delivery of collaborative initiatives and projects that improve capacity, knowledge, and skills of community and stakeholders to achieve ecological sustainability outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting spatial analysis using GIS software to enhance project support
  • Applying spatial analysis and GIS to environmental issues to develop solutions
  • Providing GIS advice and support to improve program design, monitoring, and reporting and overall project efficiency and outcomes
  • Offering strategic advice, analysis, and problem-solving in scientific and geospatial disciplines
  • Supporting the Senior Spatial Analyst in creating spatial products, managing databases
  • Communicating GIS findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders through maps, reports, and presentations
  • Collaborating with other science and non-science teams across the organization
  • Supporting the Senior Spatial Analyst and other Catchment Management Team Members in internal and external stakeholder meetings
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have all or many of the following requirements:

  • Tertiary Science degree in relevant discipline
  • Strong proficiency in GIS software, preferably ESRI (ArcGIS)
  • Ability in map and graphics production as well as spatial data management
  • Understanding of geospatial data management principles, including database design, data integration, and metadata standards
  • Excellent scientific knowledge of natural resource management
  • Effective verbal and communication skills to convey technical information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
