The opportunity

The Environmental Spatial Scientist is involved in programs and projects for clients, sponsors, and stakeholders. As a member in the Catchment Management Team, you will provide GIS and expert advice to support the design and delivery of collaborative initiatives and projects that improve the capacity, knowledge, and skills of community and stakeholders to achieve ecological sustainable outcomes.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Conducting spatial analysis using GIS software to enhance and support various projects
• Applying spatial analysis and GIS to environmental issues to help develop solutions
• Providing GIS advice and support for specific projects to improve program design, monitoring and reporting and overall project efficiency and outcomes
• Providing strategic advice, analysis and problem solving in scientific and geospatial disciplines
• Supporting the Senior spatial analyst to create spatial products, manage databases
• Communicating GIS findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders through maps, reports and presentations
• Collaborating with other science and non-science teams across the organisation
• Supporting the Senior Spatial Analyst and other Catchment Management Team Members in internal and external stakeholder meetings
  
  

About You

Ideally, you will share our vision to lead the change that will deliver an environment for future generations to thrive. To be successful in this role, you will have all or many of the following requirements:

• Tertiary Science degree in relevant discipline
• Strong proficiency in GIS software, preferably ESRI (ArcGIS)
• Ability in map and graphics production as well as spatial data management
• Understanding of geospatial data management principles, including database design, data integration and metadata standards
• Excellent scientific knowledge of natural resource management
• Effective verbal and communication skills to convey technical information to diverse audiences
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
