Dementia Support Specialist
Emmaus Village is a unique residential community for individuals living with dementia, providing familiar surroundings in an innovatively designed small-household model.
Our purpose is to enable residents to live their best life with freedom, independence, and dignity. We provide a home-like environment that enables our residents to participate in normal household duties, including shopping, cooking, and housekeeping.
The hub of the village is our community centre, featuring a café, shop, beauty salon, wellness centre, and cinema. The landscaped gardens include BBQs, a vegetable garden, and activity shed.
About the Role:
As a Home Companion, you will build and develop meaningful relationships with residents, creating an environment that encourages them to maintain their personal identity and feel empowered and independent in their daily lives.
The rhythm of the day is defined by the residents, moving away from traditional care models, so no two days are the same. Residents choose how they live, spend their time, and undertake activities like meals or showering, supported by Home Companions as needed.
All meals are cooked fresh within each house by the residents and the Home Companion. Our Home Companions are self-managing and empowered, encouraging residents to undertake activities of daily living and assisting and supporting them with normal daily tasks as required.
You will collaborate with the Health and Wellness Team and Dementia Support Consultant to provide high-quality care and ensure our residents live their best life.
Night Home Companions will work across the village in a supported team, having the opportunity to work with innovative technology within the Village.
Part-time and casual opportunities are available for night shifts across 7 days, working 23:00 - 07:06.
