Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose organisation of 8,000 employees working in more than 500 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers.
We are seeking an experienced House Manager to join our Intensive Therapeutic Care team in a residential care setting. As a House Manager, you will work in partnership with a Therapeutic Specialist and Case Manager to lead the implementation of the CARE model and ensure a safe, homelike environment that supports Children & Young People in our care to thrive.
Key Responsibilities- Manage Home Operations: Oversee the day-to-day management of the residential care home, ensuring compliance with the CARE model, legislation, relevant standards, Life Without Barriers policies and procedures, and funding body requirements.
- Provide Direct Care and Support: Provide direct care and support to children and young people within a residential care setting, promoting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- Lead and Motivate Staff: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of dedicated youth support workers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and services.
- Develop and Implement Therapeutic Care Plans: Oversee and participate in the planning and implementation of therapeutic care plans, working collaboratively with the Therapeutic Specialist and Case Manager to ensure the needs of children and young people are met.
- Model and Support Therapeutic Crisis Intervention: Model and support staff in applying the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) system, promoting a safe and supportive environment for children and young people.
- Provide Reflective Supervision: Manage, support, and provide reflective supervision to your team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care and services.
- Qualifications: A Diploma of Community Services, Youth work, or related field (a qualification is desirable but not essential for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants with relevant experience).
- Leadership Experience: Previous leadership experience in services that support children and young people, such as Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) and Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) settings.
- Support Experience: Experience supporting people with disabilities, complex health needs, and those who exhibit pain-based behaviours of concern.
- Supervision and Support: Ability to provide supervision and support to a team of Therapeutic Care Workers, to embed the delivery of therapeutic models of support to children and young people.
- Certifications: Current First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) Certificates.
- Driver's Licence: Current Driver's Licence.
