Job Opportunity

We are seeking a legal professional to join our team as a Legal Adviser.

The successful candidate will provide specialist legal and strategic advice and support to staff on complex legal and policy matters. They will work under limited direction with Senior Legal Advisers, resolving problems, managing risk effectively, and managing their workload in accordance with the APS Values and Code of Conduct, legal services directions, and internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advice and guidance on evidence gathering, issuing statutory notices, and investigation procedures
  • Assist with preparing briefs of evidence for prosecutions
  • Work closely with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecution and Inspector during prosecutions
  • Facilitate continuous improvement projects and identify trends and capability opportunities for inspectors

This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent judgment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Eligibility and Conditions of Employment:
  • Character clearance (Australian Criminal History Check)
  • Employee Health Declaration
  • Six months probationary period for new engagements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
