Senior Legal Advisor Role

The Regulatory team at Comcare provides expert legal support to regulatory activities, including investigations and prosecutions under various Acts.

The Senior Legal Advisor will work closely with the Operations Group to provide advice on investigation procedures, brief preparation, and facilitation of continuous improvement projects.

This is a challenging role that requires strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Providing legal support to investigations and inspections
  2. Assisting with the conduct of prosecutions
  3. Working closely with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and Inspectors
  4. Facilitating continuous improvement projects and identifying trends and opportunities for inspectors
Requirements:
  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory (five years or more post-admission experience is desirable)
  • Current restricted practicing certificate or ability to obtain one within three months
  • Experience in providing investigation support and conducting prosecutions in a criminal law or regulatory environment will be highly regarded
Eligibility:
  • Character clearance (Australian Criminal History Check)
  • Employee Health Declaration
  • Six months probationary period for new engagements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance

For this challenging role, you should have a solid understanding of the WHS Act and other relevant legislation. You must also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
