As the Senior Planning Appeals Advisor, you will have the opportunity to contribute your knowledge and strategic acumen to support the community interests and meet smart planning objectives for our city.

You will work closely with the Corporate Counsel team and liaise with external firms, developers, and engineers to ensure that planning matters are correctly and appropriately assessed in relation to compliance with relevant controls. This includes preparing documents for filing in Court on behalf of the Council, making recommendations on amendments to systems and processes, and managing and coordinating the work of consultants to ensure effective defence of appeals.

  • Ensure that all planning matters are assessed accurately and efficiently in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Prepare high-quality documentation for Court proceedings, including reports and submissions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Council's business processes.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including lawyers, planners, and engineers, to deliver high-quality outcomes for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in planning-related matters, a degree qualification in Town Planning or a related field, and extensive experience in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
