Residential Youth Worker Position Overview

The position requires flexibility and involves working across a 24-hour roster, which can include day, evening, weekend sleepover, and overnight stand-up work.

Our Residential Services provide accommodation and support to children and young people who are referred through the Child Protection system. The role is focused on responding to young people's emotional and functional needs, developing their personal skills, and contributing to household duties.

The position reports to the Residential Care Coordinator. We have multiple Casual opportunities available in the Eastern Region of Melbourne within our Out of Home Care program.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications)
  • A genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing
  • Demonstrate empathy for young people in our care in an open-minded and non-judgmental manner
  • Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability, and consistency
