Security Officer Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a confident and capable Security Officer to join our Defence operations at a secured base in Singleton. This role plays a critical part in protecting Defence personnel, assets, and infrastructure through proactive patrols, access management, and strong on-site presence.

You will operate in a complex and sensitive environment where professionalism, discretion, and situational awareness are essential. You will be part of a team contributing directly to Australia's national security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Access Control: Monitoring entry and exit points to ensure only authorised personnel are permitted on site.
  • Foot Patrols: Conducting regular patrols to maintain situational awareness and deter potential threats.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Building rapport with Defence personnel, contractors, and visitors while delivering a strong security presence.
  • Incident Response: Reacting promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or suspicious behaviour.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring site protocols and Defence security procedures are always followed.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Accurately recording incidents, shift activities and observations in accordance with site requirements.

Requirements:

  • Australian Citizenship required for Defence security clearance eligibility
  • A current Security Licence valid in QLD
  • Baseline Defence Clearance or must be willing to obtain a Baseline Clearance
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with Defence personnel and site stakeholders
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
  • A strong sense of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
