About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Advisor to join our Community Engagement Team at Darebin City Council. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in providing strategic engagement and communications advice and support for community engagement projects.


Main Objectives
  • Provide expert advice on community engagement and communications strategies to support the delivery of community engagement projects.
  • Develop and implement effective engagement and communications plans to engage with diverse audiences and community members.
  • Support the Community Engagement team to build capacity and capability to undertake inclusive and meaningful engagements that meet the needs of the community.
  • Provide strategic advice on population changes and demographic trends to inform community engagement and communications strategies.
  • Support the Community Engagement team to undertake an annual community satisfaction survey to inform business outcomes.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who has:


  • Extensive knowledge and experience in applying community engagement and research techniques and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing effective advice on community engagement, communications, diversity and inclusion, and demographics and research.
  • Experience in planning and delivering high-quality community engagement projects through a variety of channels.
  • Ability to collect, collate, analyse data and prepare high-quality reports on research results.
  • Ability to plan, organise, set realistic timelines, and prioritise to achieve business outcomes.
