About Payroll Officer Role
Our organization is seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join our expanding Finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately and efficiently managing the payroll process for approximately 180 employees, ensuring timely payment of wages and deductions in accordance with strong governance practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare monthly and ad-hoc end-to-end pay runs as required, emphasizing accuracy and timeliness.
- Calculate and prepare new starters' and termination pays in accordance with policy.
- Manage leave requests and ensure their approval.
- Provide information on payroll matters to employees and managers.
- Oversee payroll reconciliation, superannuation payments, bonuses, and authorized payroll deductions.
- Prepare and manage year-end ATO and state revenue requirements.
- Process payroll tax, reporting, and payment for all Australian states.
- Maintain compliance with workers' compensation insurance requirements across all states.
- Ensure accurate recording of employee expense claims, including mileage.
- Prepare end-of-month reporting and post-payroll accounting entries into Netsuite.
- Analyze variances between actuals and budgets/forecasts on a monthly basis.
- Assist with year-end reporting and administration, collaborating with external auditors.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Payroll Administration within a medium-sized organization.
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislative and statutory requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
- Proven ethics and confidentiality when handling sensitive documents.
- Able to build strong relationships and effectively communicate with staff at various levels.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Process evaluation and improvement.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth and State-based payroll legislation.
- Pro-active and goal-oriented approach, with a positive team attitude.
- Effective time and priority management.
- Proficiency in using Dayforce and Netsuite, although not essential.
