**General Medicine Specialist Wanted

We are seeking an experienced Physician in General Medicine who will commit to delivering high-quality medical services and contributing to the growth of our General Medicine department.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with a team of Physicians at Wollongong Hospital, collaborating on various specialties including neurology, cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, rheumatology, endocrinology, renal medicine, medical oncology, radiation oncology and haematology.

The General Medicine department is well-organized and patient-centric, offering both outpatient and inpatient services. We have ATs, BPTs, and JMOs supporting our patients. Our services are expanding to include special interest clinics such as perioperative care, complex patient management, and metabolic care.

The primary location for this position is Wollongong Hospital, although there may be opportunities to work at other facilities within the district as agreed upon by the Director of Medical Services and approved by the Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).

In addition to providing exceptional general medicine care, you will be expected to bring expertise that enhances the breadth and depth of services available in the district. You will participate in regular medical updates and contribute to teaching and learning opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

**Requirements:

  • Specialist registration or eligibility for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and demonstrated subspecialty training in General Medicine and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements.
  • Proven ability to provide effective, high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
