Property Leasing Officer: A Key Role in Council Facility Management


About the Job

This is a crucial role that oversees Council facility leases from negotiation to compliance, handles day-to-day property matters, and provides clear advice to stakeholders. The position requires managing accurate records, conducting inspections, and building strong relationships to ensure a customer-focused and efficient leasing service.


Work Type: Permanent full time


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement tenure arrangements for Council facilities through collaboration with tenants and/or licensees.
  • Prepare and manage tenure documents, ensuring compliance with Council policy and legislative requirements.
  • Offer expert advice to Service Managers on tenancy compliance with tenure documents and Council policy.
  • Contribute to strategic reviews of the property portfolio to enable responsible management of Council facilities.
  • Resolve outstanding lease issues, including assisting internal stakeholders with complex liaison tasks and attending meetings as required.
  • Collaborate effectively within a customer-focused team, working with a commercial and customer-centric approach.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need previous experience in property and/or leasing environments, with skills in negotiation, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration. A Certificate or Diploma in property or administration would be highly regarded, along with strong knowledge in compliance, documentation, and stakeholder communication.


Essential Skills
  • Excellent time management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of external stakeholders, including landlords, tenants, community groups, and legal representatives.
  • Capacity to prepare and manage tenure documents efficiently.
  • Knowledge and working experience in Crown Land legislation, Retail Leases legislation, and statutory compliance would be advantageous.
  • Candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the employer).
