Job Title: Senior Solicitor

CQUniversity is seeking a highly experienced and skilled solicitor to join its Office of the University Solicitor. The successful candidate will provide timely, practical legal advice and manage complex legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver timely and effective legal advice to stakeholders.
  • Manage complex legal matters, including litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Support the University Solicitor on key projects and priorities.
  • Interpret legislation, draft contracts, and represent clients in legal proceedings as needed.


Requirements:

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Admitted as a Solicitor in Australia with at least five years' post-admission experience.
  • Current unregistered Queensland Law Society Practising Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian commercial and administrative law.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver ethical, independent legal advice on complex matters.


Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts.
  • Experience working in complex organisations, ideally within higher education.
