Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Workplace Relations Specialist to join our dynamic team.

This is a Fixed-Term, Full-Time opportunity to work with a high-performing team in the Victorian Public Service until 4th December 2025.

About the Business Unit

The Justice and Community Safety department manages the Justice portfolio's industrial relations program, departmental employee relations issues, Human Resource Business Partnerships, employee investigations and administers the internal review of actions process.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a workplace relations specialist with significant experience to contribute to our workplace relations team.

  • Provide consultancy advice on complex human resource issues.
  • Support departmental managers and human resource business partners in resolving individual employee case management issues.
  • Contribute to the improvement of human resource practice across the department.
Key Responsibilities

Providing Expert Advice:

Deliver expert, strategic and innovative advice and coaching support to senior management on complex and sensitive people management issues.

Develop technical written communications at an authoritative level, including departmental briefs and memorandums.

Routinely provide recommendations to senior leaders in the department aimed at influencing them to resolve often complex, contentious or sensitive employee and industrial issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications

High-Level Experience:

Case managing a broad range of human resource issues with specialist knowledge of employee relations.

Significant experience in the provision of high-level advice to deliver successful employee relations outcomes, preferably within a government workplace.

A specialist understanding of the legislative and industrial framework that applies to the Victorian Public Service.
