Role Overview:

The role of Waste Coordinator is critical in maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible work environment. As a key member of our operations team, the successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring that all waste is managed and disposed of in accordance with local regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities
  1. Waste Classification and Management: The Waste Coordinator will be responsible for determining the type and classification of waste generated by the site, ensuring that it is correctly stored, segregated, labelled, documented, and prepared for shipment in accordance with state-based regulatory requirements.
  2. Physical Safety Equipment Maintenance: The successful candidate will be required to maintain physical safety equipment and organize the waste storage area in accordance with Australian regulatory requirements.
  3. Logistics and Communication: They will log and containerize all regulated and hazardous wastes using a digital waste reporting tool, engage and communicate with waste vendors to arrange waste collection, and ensure proper stock levels are maintained at the site.
  4. Environmental Inspections: Regular site-based environmental inspections will be conducted to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to achieve effective environmental management.
  5. Interdepartmental Collaboration: The Waste Coordinator will liaison with various teams including Workplace Health and Safety, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, Inbound Support Services, Vendor Returns, and Facilities teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  6. Inventory Management: They will support in preparing monthly waste inventory and identify shipping frequency to comply with accumulation requirements.
  7. Training and Development: Training on digital waste reporting tools and AU Hazardous Waste Procedure will be provided to the successful candidate, who will also be required to complete Dangerous Goods (DG)/ HazMat Training.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Regular analysis of waste data will be performed to identify opportunities for waste reduction onsite, with additional projects focused on professional growth and development in Waste/Environmental related focus areas.
Qualifications
  • Education: A High school or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and work with the highest level of accuracy is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills are required to clearly communicate with managers and associates at all levels.
  • Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is necessary.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to lift up to 25 Kg and stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours is required.
  • Diploma or Degree: A Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science or Science is desirable.
  • Experience: Experience in a fulfillment/distribution center environment and knowledge in waste classification, segregation and state-based waste regulatory requirements is highly regarded.
