Lead Network Planning Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced lead network planning professional to join our Distribution Network Strategy & Planning team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic solutions for our distribution network, serving over 800,000 customers across eastern and northeastern Victoria, and Melbourne's North and East.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in electricity network planning, asset management practices, and overarching markets. They will possess expert proficiency in using electricity network analysis tools, such as Sincal, PSS/E, PowerFactory, and/or PSCAD, and interpreting results. Proficiency in programming languages like Python is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive strategic plans to assess network capabilities (long & short-term), identify areas of limitations, and develop contingency plans.
  • Plan for augmentation of our network to maintain bushfire safety compliance with REFCL technology.
  • Design and implement plans for HV and LV networks, including distribution loss factors, fault level forecasts, and demand and energy forecasts.
  • Manage delivery of non-network solutions to reduce network demand and generation, deferring or avoiding network investment.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise for the business in all Network Planning matters, providing mentorship and guidance to team members.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualification and experience in Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices, and overarching markets.
  • Expert proficiency in using electricity network analysis tools, such as Sincal, PSS/E, PowerFactory, and/or PSCAD, and interpreting results. Proficiency in programming languages like Python is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously from conception to implementation and realisation of program objectives.
  • Detailed knowledge of National Electricity Rules, energy markets, and relevant laws, regulations, rules, licences, and agreements.
