Lead Network Planning Specialist

Role Overview:

A key role combining network planning expertise with grid connections knowledge is available in our organisation. The successful candidate will lead the development of Distribution Renewable Energy Zones to accommodate embedded generators, storage and large loads.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing comprehensive network plans to assess network capabilities, identify emerging limitations and initiate actions to address them
  • Undertaking thorough analysis of 66kV generator (>1.5MW) compliance and implementing necessary action to address non-compliances
  • Producing investment plans and proposals for the regulated sub-transmission network
  • Mentoring and coaching engineers within the team as a registered professional engineer

Requirements:

We are seeking a highly skilled individual with:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in the energy industry, preferably within utilities
  • Advanced technical knowledge and robust experience in electricity network planning
  • Strong understanding of Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A of the NER (National Electricity Rules)
  • Expertise in using electricity network analysis tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory and/or Sincal
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
