Financial Accounting Manager

Job Description:

The Shire of Ravensthorpe is seeking a highly motivated and experienced financial accounting manager to join our corporate services team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing financial management support to the organization, including managing budgets, financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert financial advice to senior management on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting;
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • Manage cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable;
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and the council;
  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts;
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP);

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related field;
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in financial accounting and management;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and budgeting processes;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Base salary range $80,000 - $120,000 per annum;
