Nutrition and Dietetic Department

The Nutrition and Dietetic Department aims to work in partnership to advocate for optimised nutrition for children through evidence-based clinical care, education, research and leadership. We specialise in addressing the unique nutritional needs of children from neonates to adolescents, across a range of clinical domains.

Our primary aim is to optimise the growth and nutritional status of all children with chronic and complex medical conditions.

The purpose of the dietary assistant position is to provide services to inpatients every day, including weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Completion of Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetic Assistance) Certificate III or IV or equivalent or food science/nutrition undergraduate qualification or willingness to undertake.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills including ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and complete activities as delegated by the department manager and/or the supervising dietitian.
  • Ability to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Experience working with children and their families.
