Specialist Environmental Noise Consultant

Our organization is seeking a skilled Specialist in Environmental Noise to join our team, contributing to the protection and enhancement of environmental health within the City. As a vital member, you will develop and implement policies and procedures that support the sustainable regulation of unreasonable noise.
This position involves leading investigations into noise impacts from residential and commercial sources, assessing development applications and event noise management plans, and providing expert guidance to ensure compliance with environmental standards. Your work will shape a healthier, more livable urban environment through the creation and refinement of noise-related policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement noise regulation policies aligned with legislation, planning schemes, and the City's evolving night-time economy.
- Lead scientific noise studies and manage data analysis to inform evidence-based policy and procedure development.
- Provide expert advice on noise and vibration issues across development applications, events, and customer inquiries.
- Conduct and lead investigations into environmental noise complaints, ensuring consistent regulatory processes.
- Manage technical equipment and reporting, including calibration, data interpretation, and review of internal and external scientific reports.
A comprehensive understanding of public and environmental health legislation, guidelines, and Australian Standards specific to environmental noise is essential. A degree in Science or Engineering relevant to environmental noise is also necessary, as well as eligibility to join the Australian Acoustical Society and current registration to work with vulnerable people.
