Job Opportunity:

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will be part of an esteemed research institute and contribute to world-leading research projects in bioenergy.

Our institute is dedicated to developing advanced biofuels and biomaterials. You will work with cutting-edge methods such as HPAEC-PAD, PACE, and MALDI to characterise the resulting cell wall composition and structure.

You will also co-supervise PhD students and Honours students, and produce outputs including characterisation of novel genes, improved methods for RG-II analysis, and a better understanding of cell wall assembly and function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proven expertise in plant molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including plant transformation and tissue culture.
  • In-depth knowledge of cell wall biology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific ideas to expert audiences.
  • A strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a broader team, including with industrial partners.
  • Ability to travel overseas and participate in out-of-hours meetings with US-based team members.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with bioinformatics.
  • Experience with HPAEC-PAD and HPLC systems.
