Overview

Lead the growth of innovative research ventures with lasting impact in a full-time, Continuing position at RMIT University's vibrant Melbourne CBD campus community.

About You

This role focuses on developing and supporting RMIT's pipeline of commercialisation opportunities for investment and new company formation. As an experienced venture investment manager, you will shape, mentor, and position these initiatives for investment and long-term success.

You will manage the processes associated with investment governance, provide strategic investment advice, and amplify the scale and quality of investment-ready opportunities in the RMIT pre-seed pipeline. This includes accelerating the formation of new companies based on world-class IP.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • A postgraduate degree in science, technology, and/or business with experience in commercialising university research or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience managing and curating a technology pipeline in concert with stakeholders.
  • Recommendations and advice at senior management, Investment Committee, and executive management level.
  • Start-up creation or board experience to guide founders and their early-stage technology companies.
  • Complex Venture/Deal structuring experience to align RMIT interests with investors and partners.
  • Mentoring and communication expertise across various technology options.
  • A solid track record of working with researchers, students, and stakeholders to develop commercialisation initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate and deliver results in a complex organisation or university environment.
