Senior Procurement and Contract Management Business Partner

The Senior Procurement and Contract Management Business Partner is a key position within Darebin City Council, responsible for providing expert advice and assistance to staff on procurement, tendering, and contract management procedures. This role requires a high level of analytical and investigative skills to promote the principles of risk management as applied to contract management, identify and mitigate risks, and support effective governance controls to monitor performance against contracted deliverables and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide timely and accurate advice and assistance to staff on procurement, tendering, and contract management procedures.
- Oversee contract activities to ensure compliance and effective risk mitigation.
- Enhance contract processes by collaborating with stakeholders and utilizing analytical skills to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop contract management intelligence to drive continuous improvements and inform strategic decision-making.
- Deliver specialized advice to key stakeholders and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a Council Contract Management System (CMS).
- Support procurement activities to ensure compliance and effective risk mitigation.
- Understanding and knowledge of public sector/local government procurement policy and practices.
- Well-developed commercial/business acumen.
- Experience in a procurement and contracting environment.
- Experience in continually improving using and administering systems and software packages, including Microsoft products, report writing tools, financial and procurement-related systems.
- Capability to provide training and present to groups of staff.
- Understanding of organisational issues/challenges relating to contract management.
- Analytical and investigative skills to promote the principles of risk management as applied to contract management, identify and mitigate risk.
