
Aboriginal and Community Engagement Specialist

This is a 6-month fixed-term, full-time position commencing Term 4, with possible extension (6 months) and/or permanency.
The role of the Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer is to support teachers in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Main Responsibilities:- Liaise between the community and school to develop an educational program relevant to both educational and cultural needs.
- Provide mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement at school.
- Design and implement behaviour management plans, maintain records, and provide information to parents.
In addition, this role involves facilitating community contribution to the formulation of school policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, conducting interviews or home liaison visits, managing class resources, and assisting with preparation and maintenance of the learning environment.
