Geotechnical Engineer - Mine Design and Operations Expert

The ideal candidate for this Geotechnical Engineer position will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering, with expertise in rock mechanics, tunnelling, or mining engineering. The successful individual will be responsible for conducting thorough underground and surface inspections to address geotechnical hazard reports and requests.

  • Maintaining and enhancing geotechnical hazard reporting systems and ensuring high-quality data management is crucial for this role.
  • The chosen candidate will collect and analyse data from instrumentation, monitoring systems, and inspection records to support operational safety.
  • Providing expert geotechnical advice to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements is a key aspect of the job.
  • Contributing geotechnical expertise to mine design and scheduling processes, including designing and monitoring ground support systems, will also be required.

To succeed in this challenging role, the following qualifications and skills are essential:

Qualifications: A degree in Geotechnical Engineering is mandatory, along with practical experience in rock mechanics, tunnelling, or mining engineering. Familiarity with seismic monitoring systems, numerical modelling (Map3D & Phase2), and geotechnical software (Rocscience RS2/RS3, Dips, Unwedge) would be highly desirable.
