About the Role

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking an experienced Executive Officer to join our System Reform Division. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-level executive, secretariat, and project support services to our Major Program Delivery Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Executive Director on a range of complex operational matters.
  • Manage and review the provision of high-level communications and correspondence, including briefings, reports, submissions, and notes.
  • Act as the Executive point of contact, liaising with stakeholders and coordinating communication to ensure timely responses.
  • Implement, monitor, and report on strategic, operational, and project plans to inform decision-making and support achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Research and prepare strategic advice, information, and reports on diverse and complex policy, planning, and operational matters.
  • Provide issues management and support, responding to emerging issues to ensure effective resolution with minimal risk to the organisation.
  • Lead and/or contribute to projects to support the achievement of organisation-level strategic and operational objectives.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation and evaluation of administrative practices, systems, and procedures to optimise efficiency and support the achievement of quality outcomes.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of executive leadership and exceptional strategic thinking.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including preparing written correspondence, briefs, reports, and resources.
  • Extensive experience in the development of strategic, operational, and business plans and providing strategic advice and support at an executive level.
  • Experience of project management and risk management frameworks is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated high-level analytic, problem-solving, and research skills on complex operational matters.
