Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Counsellor to provide emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing support to students.

This is a full-time position that involves individual and group-based counselling support for students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teaching and leadership staff to contribute to a safe, caring and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group-based counselling support to students.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and leadership staff to promote student wellbeing.
  • Contribute to whole-of-school wellbeing initiatives.
  • Support the development of student skills and strategies for managing emotions and relationships.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A personal Christian faith and active involvement in a local church, with a commitment to the school's Christian ethos and Statement of Faith.
  • Tertiary qualifications in counselling or a related discipline (e.g. psychology, social work), and eligibility for membership with a recognised professional body such as ACA or AASW.
  • Experience providing counselling support to children and adolescents, including individual and group interventions, within a school or comparable setting.
  • Knowledge of current best practice in student wellbeing and mental health, including child protection, mandatory reporting, and trauma-informed care.
  • Experience in case management and interagency collaboration, including liaison with families, educators, and external professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability in behavioural competencies including working with people, adhering to principles and values, planning and organising, and adapting and responding to change.
  • Current Working with Children Check and an understanding of child safety obligations in educational settings.
