Environmental Health and Sustainability Specialist

This role is focused on delivering exceptional service excellence and promoting sustainable practices within the community.

The Environmental Health and Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Implementing, monitoring, and reviewing Council's Waste Resource & Recovery Strategy and Sustainable Communities Strategy.
  • Providing strategic advice to support the Director and Executive team in exploring opportunities for economic and environmental waste and resource recovery solutions.
  • Contributing to Council's growth agenda through providing strategic advice to relevant plans and programs.
  • Managing education and collaboration programs within the organisation and the community to promote environmental values and natural systems preservation.
  • Managing inspection programs and maintaining registers in areas such as food premises, liquid trade waste, skin penetration, public swimming pools, onsite sewage management, contaminated land, legionnaires, UPSS, illegal land use.
  • Developing financial plans including budgeting and forecasting for the short and long term of Council's Waste and Resource Recovery business.
  • Managing and fulfilling Council's environmental responsibilities under the administration of the NSW EPA.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have highly developed research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically. You will also require a well-developed understanding of Local Government in Environmental Health and Sustainability and strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with a wide variety of people.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Environmental Science and/or Health Sciences or similar and 7 years' experience in a related environment. Additionally, you will require a SafeWork Construction Induction Card (WHS White Card) and a Current Class C Driver Licence.

This is a full-time position with a 70-hour fortnight. The salary range is $121,825 to $147,820 pa + 11.5% super. For more information about the role, click here.
