Job Summary

This role assists with monitoring risk performance against internal risk appetite and providing insights via data analysis using various tools. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering on various risk reporting and assisting the implementation of risk culture programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage delivery of various risk reporting needs, including quarterly risk reports to senior officers and risk forums as required.
  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining the Risk Management Framework for the Northern Trust Australia (Melbourne Branch), including risk appetite statements and risk management strategy.
  • Advise first lines on application of various elements of the Risk Management Framework.
  • Integrate risk into business planning process through review of risk appetite in conjunction with business plans and line 2 risk assessments of strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor risk performance against appetite and use key risk indicators and metrics to report on risk management.
  • Conduct periodic assessments of risk culture and action plan to support maturity.
  • Support development and implementation of risk culture frameworks and measurement methodologies, including managing risk culture assessment processes.
  • Deliver annual risk management declaration to APRA, documenting supporting risk assessment and evidence and obtaining management attestations.
  • Support internal and external reviews, including annual external audit process in liaison with Finance and Compliance functions.
  • Provide secretarial support to CRO as secretary for the Australia Risk Management Committee, coordinating meeting papers and taking minutes and actions.
  • Monitor regulatory developments impacting the Risk Management Framework, assessing impacts and implementing regulatory change.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Risk, or related fields is preferred.
  • 5-7 years or more experience working in risk management within Australia's financial services or APRA-regulated entities.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, risk culture, APRA, and ASIC requirements.
  • Knowledge of Northern Trust's strategic goals and experience or studies in risk-related fields.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality and timely deliverables.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze information for insights.
  • Experience in data analytics and reporting with visualization software like PowerBI.
  • Experience in stakeholder management or proven ability to influence stakeholders.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum
