Job Title: Senior Claims Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced claims professional to manage a portfolio of high-value and complex Specialty claims. This role requires strategic thinking, analytical skills, and excellent communication capabilities.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposures. They will provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolution, collaborate with internal legal teams and external counsel to manage legal complexities, and attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposures
- Provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolution
- Collaborate with internal legal teams and external counsel to manage legal complexities
- Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required
- Support technical oversight and mentoring within the Specialty claims team
- Develop governance frameworks and reporting for emerging risks and financial impacts
- Promote alignment of claims strategies across internal stakeholders
- Contribute to process improvements and cost reduction initiatives
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance
- Industry qualifications such as Diploma in Financial Services
- 5–10 years' experience managing complex liability or professional indemnity claims
- Litigation experience, including briefing panel firms or direct involvement
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Experience mentoring and developing team members
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and claims systems
