Senior Legal Counsel (Disputes & Litigation)

CMC Markets is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our APAC Legal team on a 15-month fixed-term contract. As a key member of our team, you will provide strategic legal advice to our CFD and Stockbroking business in Australia and the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality legal services to the CFD and Stockbroking business, including strategic advice on disputes and litigious matters.
  • Manage and advise on key disputes and litigation, including running point on such matters.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Legal and other stakeholders to ensure effective escalation of notable issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external legal service providers to ensure value and appropriate legal support for CMC Markets.
  • Assist and maintain a close working relationship with the rest of the APAC Legal Team on a range of matters, including general strategic legal advice.
Requirements:
  • Australian practising solicitor with 9-10 years' post-qualification experience and at least 4 years' commercial litigation experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex legal issues in verbal and written reports in plain English.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of the laws and regulations that cover the financial services industry, including the Corporations Act and other equivalent legislation.
