Senior Legal Counsel Opportunity at Qantas Group

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Qantas Group. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality legal advice and support to our business units.

About the Role

The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal analysis and advice on critical projects, transactions, and business initiatives
  • Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts in a manner that is responsive to business needs and consistent with our risk framework
  • Preparing submissions and advice on regulatory and other matters

You will work closely with our General Counsel and Group Executive for the Office of the CEO (OCEO) and support all levels and business units of the organisation.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in general corporate, regulatory, or commercial law disciplines
  • Training in a top-tier law firm or equivalent
  • A law degree with a current Practising Certificate in New South Wales or Victoria
  • Proven experience in corporate/commercial law disciplines, particularly contract drafting and negotiating, commercial advice, complex transactions, litigation, regulatory safety & environment, privacy, consumer, competition, intellectual property, and technology
  • Ability to provide legal advice unsupervised and coordinate with in-house and external resources to manage the delivery of legal services in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven experience in obtaining, understanding, and interpreting legislation and legal opinions/advice
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Confident and effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of relating well to people at all levels in an organisation
