Senior Legal Counsel Opportunity

The Green Recruitment Company is partnering with a leading international developer to find a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Australian team based in Sydney.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced lawyer at a private practice looking to move in-house, or an exciting next step for a Legal Counsel to be at the forefront of the energy transition in Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the business on running their day-to-day legal requirements and legal aspects of transaction processes.
  • Design, draft, and review joint venture arrangements with local development partners.
  • Assist with securing project rights and project finance for a portfolio of renewable energy projects.
  • Identify and implement the corporate structure most suitable for a given project.
  • Manage and oversee legal, compliance, and governance risks in the energy market in the Australian region.
  • Provide general legal support regarding large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure legal compliance.
  • Manage and instruct external counsel.
Your Profile

We are looking for a lawyer with a law degree from a recognised university and 7+ years PQE in a private practice law firm or as legal counsel for a renewable energy developer or in the energy or infrastructure field.

Experience supporting the development of utility-scale Solar and BESS projects in Australia is highly desirable.

Excellent negotiation, contract drafting, analytical, and communication skills are essential.

Experience with land lease and land purchase transactions, as well as across a range of corporate transactions including mergers & acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, and funding/project financing, is highly valued.
