Job Description

Enable and Support Rehabilitation

The Return to Work (RTW) Support team plays a crucial role in delivering high-performing claims management services. By monitoring and driving the integrity of medical information, we ensure that our claims are accurate and efficient.

This includes managing Comcare's Clinical Panel, conducting independent medical examinations, and monitoring medical providers. We also facilitate a network of injury management advisors working on claims, sharing best practices and expertise to improve rehabilitation outcomes.

The Assistant Director, RTW Support leads this effort, collaborating across Comcare, client agencies, and contracted service providers. With data-driven approaches and evidence-based solutions, we develop recommendations and inform continuous improvement initiatives, delivering better practice.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to Comcare's purpose, Corporate Plan, and claims management strategy and operating model.
  2. Drive rehabilitation and RTW practice across claims management operations in line with the claims management strategy, including achievement of targets and successful completion of improvement projects.
  3. Lead Comcare's monitoring of RTW practice across APS agencies and implement projects to enhance rehabilitation and RTW approaches and capability.
  4. Work across Comcare and client agencies to focus on delivery of consistent rehabilitation and RTW, positive claim outcomes, sharing information and best practice, and resolving conflicts.
  5. Lead a small team in accordance with APS and Comcare requirements, including human resource, financial management, and procurement requirements.
  6. Connect and integrate rehabilitation and RTW with other functions of Comcare and across the APS.
Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in medical or allied health.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

  • Registration with the relevant medical or allied health professional association.
  • Experience working in the rehabilitation industry or practical experience in rehabilitation and/or return to work.

Specific Conditions of Employment:

  • Character clearance (Australian Criminal History Check).
  • Employee Health Declaration.
  • Six months probationary period for new engagements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
