Police Custody Officer Role Overview

This position is a critical component in the management and welfare of individuals in custody. It offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact within your community.

  • Responsibilities include managing persons in the custody of law enforcement, ensuring the health, safety, and supervision of those in custody, as well as staff and visitors.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding the transport, offsite attendance, and/or video links for persons in custody.
  • Carrying out all prisoner management functions in accordance with established legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervising persons in custody of the court.

This role requires strong communication skills, physical fitness, honesty, integrity, good character, leadership abilities, resilience, and a commitment to community service. You must be willing to work rotating shifts, including day, afternoon, and night shifts, and undergo comprehensive training at a designated academy.
