Renewable Energy Operations and Maintenance Technician

We are currently seeking a skilled and competent Electrician to join our maintenance team as an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Electrician during the operations phase of a 400 MW solar farm project. The role is based in Uralla or the New England Region, NSW with relocation assistance if needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring plant performance, troubleshooting issues, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
  • Maintain and repair various electrical systems, with experience in renewable energy and solar preferred
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues
  • Create standard operating procedures for maintenance and operations
  • Supervise and coordinate with subcontractors and site personnel
  • Conduct high-voltage switching in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental requirements in collaboration with the Site Manager
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Participate in a 7-day roster, including public holidays, with 24-hour on-call availability as required
  • Perform overtime and night shifts as necessary
  • Utilize Work Order Systems, incident investigation tools, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Manage inventory and equipment levels
  • Comply with relevant permits, licenses, and safety certifications
  • Report on O&M activities and incidents to the Site Manager and HSE team
Requirements
  • HV Switching Operator license or willingness to undertake training
  • Ability to work a 7-day roster, including public holidays, with 24-hour on-call availability
  • Experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, preferably in renewable energy and solar sectors
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented approach
  • Familiarity with Work Order Systems, incident investigation, and CMMS
  • Knowledge of OHS policies and procedures
  • Understanding of Quality and Environmental management plans and reporting procedures
