Job Title: Senior Youth Employment Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Youth Employment Specialist to join our team at SYC. This role will play a crucial part in guiding and mentoring young individuals aged 15-24 in their education or career journeys. The successful candidate will empower and motivate a small team of Youth Employment Coaches to drive the best employment and education outcomes for participants.

  • Support the Transition to Work Manager in managing day-to-day site operations to achieve agreed targets and site KPIs.
  • Provide expert operational advice and coaching to TtW employees.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to welcome and engage individuals by phoning or visiting sites.
  • Reverse market to employers to secure opportunities for participants.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with employers, stakeholders, and participants.
  • Provide individual case management support, facilitating participant development to overcome barriers and help them into employment and education.

About You

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to create a positive working environment, and possess strong leadership skills. They will be able to manage change and innovation in service and demonstrate:

  • Leadership and support skills, with a willingness to share information and knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write timely and accurate communications, project notes, and reports.
  • Effective collaboration skills, providing expert advice, coaching, and support as required.
  • Self-motivation and initiative, with well-developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Previous experience in training, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands.

Requirements

  • Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
  • Be eligible to work in Australia.
  • Have a current and valid driver's license and a registered vehicle with a 4 or 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
