Ecology Leader Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled ecology leader to join our team.

  • Provide high-quality ecological advice across all stages of infrastructure and natural resource projects.
  • Support and mentor your team, encouraging innovative thinking to drive strong conservation outcomes.
  • Collaborate with industry leaders and client managers, helping shape market strategies.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of consulting experience in biodiversity impact assessment, environmental offsets, and mine rehabilitation.
  • Leadership experience, strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a positive approach to team engagement.
  • A solid understanding of people and team dynamics, with a track record of building or leading high-performing teams.
  • Significant field experience in rehabilitation monitoring, protected plants and marine plant surveys, threatened ecological community verification, ecological data collection and analysis, managing field teams, etc.
  • Experience in developing re-vegetation and vegetation management plans.
  • Experience in field verification and GIS mapping of vegetation communities / regional ecosystems and managing spatial datasets.
  • Knowledge of Queensland regional ecosystem framework and Commonwealth environmental offset policies and associated guidelines.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and ability to interpret legislation and policy.
  • A passion for ecology, conservation, biodiversity and natural resources management.
  • Willingness to undertake fieldwork including extended trips to remote areas across Queensland and nationally.
