Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the development and implementation of tailored environmental strategies for Melbourne Airport. This role will provide expert advice to management, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and engaging stakeholders effectively.

Main Responsibilities
  • Sustainability Strategy and Risk Management
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive environmental strategies, providing updates on technical risk positions.
    • Offer technical support for regulatory proceedings and tenant projects.
  • Tenant and Project Coordination
    • Maintain active engagement with tenants related to PFAS management to drive project progress.
    • Provide strategic environmental advice to tenants and manage external consultants.
  • Environmental Compliance and Governance
    • Identify and implement effective measures to mitigate environmental risks.
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure tenant compliance with Environmental Management Plans.
  • Regulatory and Technical Expertise
    • Stay current with PFAS-related regulatory developments and prepare technical guidance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations
    • Foster collaboration with regulators, agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Environmental Planning and Systems
    • Assist in implementing the Melbourne Airport Environment Strategy.
    • Contribute to maintaining a robust Environmental Management System.
  • Construction and Operational Support
    • Provide expert environmental advice to Melbourne Airport and contractors.
    • Review environmental plans and conduct site inspections.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Assist in preparing and delivering regulatory reports.
    • Develop papers and presentations for senior leadership.
    Qualifications
    • Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering.
    • 10+ years of experience in contaminated land investigations and fieldwork.
    • Experience in PFAS management and understanding of its regulatory requirements.
    • Strong knowledge of Commonwealth and State environmental legislation.
    • Highly developed project management skills.
    • Established relationships with key stakeholders.

This role requires a high level of expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
