About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our Airline Services Team in Qantas Legal, providing high quality legal advice and support across various areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal analysis and advice on critical projects, transactions, risks, and business initiatives.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review contracts in a manner that is responsive to business needs and consistent with the Qantas Group's risk framework.
  • Prepare submissions and advice on regulatory and other matters.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in general corporate, regulatory, or commercial law disciplines, with M&A and technology contracting experience considered favorably.
  • Training in a top-tier law firm or equivalent. Additional in-house experience in a large company is also desirable.
  • A Law degree with a current Practising Certificate in New South Wales or Victoria.
  • Proven experience in corporate/commercial law disciplines, particularly contract drafting and negotiating, commercial advice, complex transactions, litigation, regulatory, safety & environment, privacy, consumer, competition, intellectual property, and technology.
  • The ability to provide legal advice unsupervised but also coordinate with both in-house and external resources to manage the delivery of legal services in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with proven ability to manage complex matters and prioritize conflicting tasks while working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
