We are seeking a talented educator to join our team at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) as a Lecturer in Performing Arts. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in their performing arts journey.

About the Role

  • Deliver high-quality teaching in actor training, devised performance, and physical theatre, as well as contextual theory and history related to these practices.
  • Develop and coordinate curriculum in performance making, ensuring it aligns with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement pedagogical approaches that foster student growth and creativity.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative and engaging learning experiences that reflect the latest trends and advancements in the performing arts field.
  • Mentor students in research projects, thesis preparation, and career development.

About You

  • You hold a relevant tertiary qualification (ideally PhD, but a minimum of Masters level) or equivalent professional industry experience.
  • You have a proven track record as a lecturer in performance studies, theatre studies, or an allied discipline at a tertiary level.
  • You possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • You have a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, and are passionate about creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
  • You have a deep understanding of contemporary theatre and performance, with expertise in areas including devising, movement studies, vocal training, and acting.
