Job Overview

This pivotal role plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality teaching and advancing rural medical education. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Rural ILP Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Independent Learning Project (ILP) program, supporting rural research initiatives, and contributing to the academic education program at the campus.

Working closely with Local Health Districts and Primary and Rural Health Networks, the position supports the teaching and service missions of the Rural Clinical Campuses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the ILP program, supporting rural research initiatives, and contributing to the academic education program at the campus.
  • Collaborate with Local Health Districts and Primary and Rural Health Networks to progress research initiatives and ILP projects relevant to local area health issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A BMedMD, MBBS or equivalent medical degree with relevant professional expertise and eligibility for medical registration in New South Wales, and/or a PhD in Biomedical Science or a related discipline.
  • Evidence and maintenance of professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge and professional accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching biomedical sciences, clinical medicine and/or related health disciplines including course development, delivery and convening at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • A strong commitment to rurally focused teaching and research to improve patient and local healthcare outcomes.
  • A track record of successful interaction and involvement with relevant authorities, professional organisations, research and training institutes and health networks.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
