Expert Software Architect

This role involves the embedding of AI-assisted tools and capabilities to enhance developer experience, delivery velocity, and software quality.
The team is actively involved in education programs, innovation, research, and partnerships that support Australia's digital future.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate on complex technical problems from discovery to implementation.
- Translate business and engineering requirements into clear designs; break down work and create clarity for delivery squads.
- Experiment with emerging AI/ML and GenAI tooling; run evaluations and provide recommendations.
- Deliver resilient components and services that integrate into other teams' products and pipelines.
- Contribute to architecture discussions; propose improvements and model engineering standards and best practices.
- Maintain high-quality codebases through active code reviews and documentation.
- Work cross-functionally to align roadmaps, manage dependencies, and land change with minimal disruption.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and squad members.
- Extensive experience designing scalable software systems.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML and Generative AI applications applied to software engineering workflows.
- Proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, TypeScript, or C#.
- Experience building microservices on public cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).
- Strong technical leadership: ability to set technical direction, review designs and code.
- Growth mindset with a bias toward iterative experimentation.
- Deep experience with agile delivery (e.g., Scrum/Kanban) and tooling such as Jira and Confluence.
