We are seeking a values-driven and proactive professional to join our team as a Substance Use Support Specialist in St Kilda, Victoria.

About the Role

This is a casual position based on The Salvation Army Harm Reduction Van, providing assertive outreach and harm reduction services to individuals and groups.

Reporting to the Harm Reduction Van Coordinator, you will work with a dynamic team to ensure services align with The Salvation Army's AOD model of care and policies.

The successful candidate will work on a set roster, including weekday and weekend shifts, ensuring clients receive integrated, holistic responses to their needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing sterile injecting equipment to people who inject drugs.
  • Delivering naloxone and overdose training opportunities to all clients accessing the outreach service.
  • Ensuring clients' unmet needs are identified and referrals made for mental health, housing, and other relevant services.
  • Supporting the Community Health Nurse in primary health care provision.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A Certificate IV in the application of AOD interventions or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • A valid Victorian Driver's Licence (desired).
  • A current Working With Children Check.
  • A high level of knowledge of the health and AOD harm reduction needs of vulnerable populations.
  • Excellent communication skills.

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
