
Young People Support Specialist

As a Mental Health Worker, you will connect with young people aged 12-25 in a flexible, inclusive, and supportive way, delivering evidence-based interventions that truly make a difference in their mental health journey. You will conduct psychosocial assessments, develop and deliver individualised care plans, provide evidence-based psychological support, and work in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and inclusive way.
About the RoleOur Mental Health Team is committed to empowering every person we serve to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to form strong professional relationships with young people, helping them navigate a wide range of challenges including early mental health issues, substance use, physical health, education, and social concerns.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments using tools such as HEADSS, K10, PHQ9, GAD7, SOFAS, AND SCOFF.
- Develop and deliver individualised care plans that reflect each young person's goals, strengths, and needs.
- Provide evidence-based psychological support, monitor outcomes, and implement appropriate risk management plans.
- Engage in single session support, group facilitation, and family-inclusive practice.

RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, or a related allied health field.
- Registration with a relevant professional body (or willingness to be provisionally employed while working toward registration).
- Experience delivering individual and/or group therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect authentically with young people from all walks of life.
