Job Description

Role Overview

The Classroom Teacher - Science/Chemistry is a critical role in the State Government of Victoria, Australia, responsible for delivering high-quality education to students in Science and Chemistry. This position requires a skilled and dedicated teacher who can create engaging learning experiences and promote student growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Learning
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons to students in Science and Chemistry, ensuring that curriculum standards are met and students are challenged to reach their full potential.
    • Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Classroom Management
    • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and open communication.
    • Manage classroom behavior and ensure that students are engaged and motivated throughout lessons.
  • Professional Development
    • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in Science and Chemistry education.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and expertise and improve teaching practices.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
    • Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs.

Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • Provisional or full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
  • Experience
    • Experience in teaching Science and Chemistry to students in a secondary school setting.
  • Skills
    • Strong knowledge of Science and Chemistry curriculum standards and pedagogy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and manage classroom behavior.
