Key Responsibilities
  • Act as second-in-command, assisting in strategic planning, decision-making and technical leadership.
  • Lead, mentor and coach engineers to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Design and implement complex infrastructure systems that are secure, scalable, reliable and aligned with performance and best practice requirements.
  • Undertake project work to design, plan and implement solutions for Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
  • Respond to security incidents, conduct investigations and implement mitigation measures.
  • Develop and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness programs.
  • Identify and resolve system infrastructure issues through root cause analysis and preventive measures.
  • Manage the performance of compute, storage, network and backup infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet infrastructure needs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship within support, engineering and sales teams.
  • Create and maintain documentation on system architecture, configurations, procedures and troubleshooting guides.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience as Senior or Lead Systems Engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft infrastructure systems and best practices.
  • Deep understanding of networking, operating systems, cloud and data center environments.
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead teams in dynamic environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solution Architect).
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Azure (VMs, networking, Recovery Services Vault, Site Recovery).
  • Windows Server core roles and features.
  • Microsoft SQL and IIS administration.
  • Microsoft 365 services (Entra ID/AzureAD, Global Secure Access, Exchange Online).
  • Automation skills (PowerShell, PowerAutomate).
Additional Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a 2IC or equivalent leadership role.
  • Experience within a Managed Services Provider.
