Maintenance Technician Job Description

At our organization, we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform various tasks and take pride in their work. This role is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and optimal performance of equipment, machinery, and facilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance, contributing to the smooth operations of production processes and overall facility maintenance.

  • Completes minor and routine painting, plumbing, carpentry, and other related maintenance activities using hand and power tools.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment to identify the root cause and implement effective repairs.
  • Responds promptly to equipment breakdowns, troubleshoots the problem, and takes appropriate action to restore functionality in a timely manner.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks and pathways as needed.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures, giving special attention to safety regulations.
  • Performs regular preventative maintenance on equipment and notifies management concerning the need for major repairs when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as required.
  • Is willing to travel to Port Huron, Michigan for training.
  • Assists with the installation and startup of new equipment and machinery.
  • Participates in comprehensive training programs to stay current with industry standards and new technologies.
  • Supports the establishment and operationalization of new facilities, ensuring all equipment and machinery are installed and functioning correctly.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams during facility startups to ensure a smooth transition to full production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and machinery are running efficiently.
  • Identifies and resolves technical issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, including completed tasks, equipment condition, and any issues encountered.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry developments and best practices through ongoing training and professional development.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or trade school education a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on quality and accuracy.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects, occasionally up to 70 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and other departments.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, and overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to travel frequently and stay overnight for extended periods as needed to support training and facility startups.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, as needed, with assistance from maintenance equipment.
