Commercial Growth Strategist Role

Aon Australia seeks a visionary leader to spearhead commercial growth, driving innovation and excellence in enterprise-wide expansion.

About the Role

  • The successful candidate will lead our commercial growth strategy, partnering with executive business owners to accelerate revenue growth across Risk & Human Capital.
  • This includes owning portfolio growth across new client acquisition, including pipeline development, management, and sales capability uplift.
  • You will partner with business leaders to grow existing clients through Delivering Aon United (DAU) and Aon Client Leadership (ACL) activity.
  • We are looking for someone who can identify incremental organic opportunities with segment leaders and shape arguments for inorganic growth to deliver tangible outcomes.
  • You will be accountable for new business revenue, client profitability, and client service levels across Aon Australia, with impact across Pacific/APAC.
  • This role involves embedding best-practice operating standards, including adoption of Aon's global CRM Aon Connect, and driving high-impact bid management and proposal development.
  • You will lead, mentor, and develop the Commercial (Growth & Bids) team, encouraging collaboration and accountability.
  • Partnering with Marketing is key to crafting demand generation and top-of-funnel activities aligned to market opportunities.
  • You will align the People Strategy to business goals, focusing on goal setting & PMA reviews, colleague engagement, talent & succession, remuneration, and development planning.
  • Operational excellence: using data, AI, and Aon digital tools to optimize decisions and outcomes.
  • Transformation & change: champion a growth mindset, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer-centricity enterprise-wide.
  • Risk & compliance: ensuring growth activities meet Australian regulatory requirements and Aon standards.

Requirements

  • An entrepreneurial bias for action; growth and improvement mentality; strong commercial competence; high personal drive/work ethic.
  • Advanced networking and prospect engagement; recognized social/thought-leadership profile; strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication; adaptability, resilience, humility, empathy, and openness.
  • Background: Senior commercial, sales, or client-management experience in financial/professional services or insurance.
